Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
A Recovery and Alternative to Discipline Program for California Registered Nurses
The Intervention Program is a voluntary and confidential recovery and monitoring program for RNs whose practice may be impaired by substance use disorder or mental illness.
The Program protects the public by providing RNs access to effective treatment services, monitoring their recovery through an individualized plan, and returning them to safe practice.
California Board of Pharmacy (BOP)
The purpose of the Pharmacists Recovery Program is to identify and evaluate the nature and severity of the chemical dependency and/or mental illness, develop a treatment plan contract, monitor participation and provide encouragement and support. In the quickest, most confidential and least stressful manner possible, the individual receives the proper help to face the problem, deal with it and, if possible, return to the profession as a contributing member.
Through this program, the chemically dependent or mentally troubled pharmacist is provided with the hope and assistance required for a successful recovery.

Dental Board of California (DBC)
Diversion is a confidential program for licensed Dentists, Registered Dental Assistants, and Registered Dental Assistants in Extended Functions in California whose ability to practice may be impaired due to alcohol and/or drug abuse. The program offers a means of recovery without the loss of a license by providing access to appropriate intervention programs and treatment services. The Diversion Program must comply with the provisions in Business and Professions Code Section 1695.5.
Dental Hygiene Board of California (DHBC)
Diversion is a confidential program for licensed Dentists, Registered Dental Assistants, and Registered Dental Assistants in Extended Functions in California whose ability to practice may be impaired due to alcohol and/or drug abuse. The program offers a means of recovery without the loss of a license by providing access to appropriate intervention programs and treatment services.
Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC)
Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program
The Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC) is one of several professional regulatory boards and bureaus that exist within the Department of Consumer Affairs. The PTBC has the primary responsibility of licensing and regulating licensed physical therapists (PT) and physical therapist assistants (PTA) in California. The PTBC's responsibilities come from the Physical Therapy Practice Act, which is composed of California statutes that give the PTBC, among other functions, the authority to manage a Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program for PT and PTAs. The Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program must comply with the provisions in Business and Professions Code 2662-2669.
The Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program is a voluntary, confidential program for PT and PTAs who may be impaired due to chemical dependency. The goal of the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program is to protect the public by early identification of impaired PT and PTA by providing PT and PTAs access to appropriate intervention programs and treatment services. Public safety is protected by suspension of practice, when needed, and by careful monitoring of the PT and PTAs.
Physician Assistant Board (PAB)
To better protect the consumers of the State of California, the Diversion Program's purpose is to identify and seek means to rehabilitate physician assistants whose competency is impaired due to abuse of drugs and/or alcohol. The Diversion Program is designed so that impaired physician assistants can be counseled, guided to appropriate treatment, and returned to practice in a manner, which will not endanger public health or safety. Services provided include:
Confidential consultation with professionals in the field of chemical dependency
Intervention services
Assessment and referral for treatment
Development of a rehabilitation plan
Monitoring participation and compliance
Encouragement and support
Veterinary Medical Board (VMB)
The purpose of the Diversion Program is to identify and rehabilitate licensed veterinary professionals whose competency is impaired due to the abuse of drugs and/or alcohol. The Diversion Program is designed so that impaired veterinary professionals can be counseled, guided to appropriate treatment, and returned to practice in a manner that will not endanger public health or safety.

Osteopathic Medical Board (OMB)
The purpose of the Diversion Program is to identify and seek means to rehabilitate Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons with impairment due to abuse of dangerous drugs and alcohol.
